Viva Kids has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Cloud Girl, the acclaimed animated feature from French filmmaker Philippe Riche. Previously titled Girl in the Clouds, the film is inspired by Romain Puértolas’ novel The Little Girl Who Swallowed a Cloud as Big as the Eiffel Tower.
An Official Selection of the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Cloud Girl is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on January 8, 2027.
The animated adventure follows an 11-year-old book lover who is entrusted with a magical quill capable of granting any wish it writes. After wishing for the power to fly and for her guinea pig, Airbag, to speak, the pair embark on an extraordinary journey to help save the planet.
The film features a voice cast led by Faith Delaney, Hugh Laurie, Joseph Balderrama, Ken Nwosu, and Bhavnisha Parmar.
Cloud Girl is directed by Philippe Riche and produced by Luc Bossi, with executive producers Simon Crowe, Jon Goldman, and Valérie Leroux. The film is a production of Brio Films, Panama Productions, Scope Pictures, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma.
