Republic Pictures has announced the digital release of Bad Apples, a dark comedy starring Saoirse Ronan, arriving on digital platforms on November 3, 2026.
Directed by Jonatan Etzler and written by Jess O’Kane, the film follows a well-meaning primary school teacher whose attempts to manage an unruly student spiral completely out of control.
Maria is a dedicated teacher struggling to inspire her class of 10-year-olds while dealing with one particularly disruptive child. As the student’s behavior worsens and her professional future comes under scrutiny, Maria makes a series of increasingly questionable decisions that culminate in accidentally taking the child home and locking him inside her house.
As she desperately tries to undo her mistake, an unexpected complication emerges: the classroom begins thriving in the student’s absence, while parents and school staff celebrate the dramatic improvement. What follows is a darkly comedic chain of events that leaves Maria trapped in an increasingly impossible situation.
