The powerful, uplifting and “remarkable” (Wall Street Journal) film tells the story of working-class pugilist “Irish” Micky Ward (Wahlberg) and his against-all-odds triumph in the ring that united his fractured family and brought pride to his blue-collar hometown. Bale portrays Ward’s troubled older brother, Dicky Eklund, a role that has already earned him a Golden Globe®, SAG and National Board of Review award for Best Supporting Actor, as well as awards from numerous regional film critics’ societies.
