Sony Pictures has unveiled the official teaser trailer for The Social Reckoning, a dramatic thriller written and directed by Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin. Serving as a companion piece to the acclaimed hit The Social Network, the new film explores the real‑world events behind The Facebook Files, the Wall Street Journal’s explosive exposé that ignited a global conversation about social media, safety, and corporate responsibility.
Inspired by true events, The Social Reckoning follows Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison), a young Facebook engineer who becomes increasingly troubled by what she discovers inside the company. Determined to expose the truth, she turns to Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, setting off a dangerous chain of events that leads to one of the most consequential whistleblower cases of the digital age. As the pair navigate mounting pressure, internal resistance, and personal risk, the film examines the high‑stakes battle between transparency and power.
The cast includes Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, Bill Burr, and Jeremy Strong.
The Social Reckoning is written and directed by Aaron Sorkin and produced by Todd Black, Peter Rice, Aaron Sorkin, and Stuart Besser. Executive producers include Lauren Lohman, Roger McNamee, Ellen Goldsmith‑Vein, Broderick Johnson, and Andrew A. Kosove.
