Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to Among Ravens, a feature-length dramedy co-directed by Russell Friedenberg (Wind Walkers, Trudell) and Randy Redroad (The Doe Boy) from a script by Friedenberg. The film stars Johnny Sequoyah (NBC’s “Believe”), Amy Smart (FX’s “Justified,” Crank), Victoria Smurfit (NBC’s “Dracula,” About a Boy), Joshua Leonard (The Lie, Humpday), Natalie Imbruglia (Johnny English, “Neighbours”), Christian Campbell (HBO’s “Big Love,” Trick), Will McCormack (Celeste and Jesse Forever, ABC’s “Brothers and Sisters,”) and Friedenberg. The film is slated for release in theaters and On Demand on July 18, 2014 after having its world premiere at the Nantucket Film Festival and an opening night berth at Galway.
Inspired by real events, Among Ravens follows the intertwined lives of a group of friends and family as seen through the eyes of a 10-year old girl, Joey (Sequoyah). When the group gathers for their annual 4th of July holiday weekend in Idaho, her mom (Smart), step-father (Leonard) and father (Friedenberg), along with a combustible mix of friends and entanglements, secrets begin to unravel and have an impact on young Joey.

Among Ravens is produced by Heather Rae (Frozen River, The Dry Land, Ass Backwards), Teddy Grennan (Ass Backwards) and Dori Sperko (X/Y, Ass Backwards, Wind Walkers). The deal was brokered by Melanie Miller for Gravitas and Heather Rae on behalf of Iron Circle Pictures.
