Former Entertainment Tonight anchor Julie Moran and actor and husband Rob Moran (There’s Something About Mary) have been selected as the official hosts for the upcoming SHORTS AWARDS 2014. This is Rob’s second year as an official Shorts Awards host and Julie’s first. Organized by ShortsHDTM, the world’s only Short Movie Channel in high definition (www.shorts.tv), the SHORTS AWARDS have become the staple for the global short film community, honoring outstanding achievements in short film. The invite-only event takes place on Saturday March 1, 2014 at the prestigious Paley Center For Media in Beverly Hills, the night before the Oscars.
The 4th Annual ShortsHDTM SHORTS AWARDS will celebrate the most prestigious shorts from around the world created in 2013; will honor The Netherlands, including EYE International, Netherlands Film Funds and UPC Netherlands, with the International Shorts Award as a leader in support of their national short film industry; and will present key Visionary Awards to well-known feature filmmakers who continue to make outsize contributions to the short film art form. The Awards come on the heels of the ShortsHDTM theatrical release, The Oscar® Nominated Short Films 2014, which is currently in over 400 theaters across the United States, Canada and Europe and available via iTunes, Amazon and VOD platforms starting on Wednesday, February 25.
Together, Rob and Julie Moran are a powerhouse of Hollywood entertainment. For 7 years, Julie Moran was senior correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, the #1 magazine show in syndication. Husband actor Rob is best known for his hugely successful comedy roles bringing characters created by the Farrelly brothers to life, with film credits that include Me Myself & Irene, Dumb and Dumber, and Hall Pass with Owen Wilson.
Julie’s credits also include hosting the prestigious Academy Awards pre-show. She was also the first female host of ABC’s Wide World of Sports in the program’s 35-year history. In addition to film, Rob’s work has included major television roles in such series as Men of a Certain Age, The United States of Tara and the hit mini-series from the History Channel Hatfields & McCoys.
Both can be seen on-screen today: currently Julie can be seen on Access Hollywood as the show’s Special Correspondent and is currently hosting Lifetime’s morning show, The Balancing Act; Rob will soon appear in Adam Sandler’s new comedy Blended with Drew Barrymore and in Fox’s new hit TV series, Rake, with Greg Kinnear.
“Step aside Amy Poehler and Tina Fey — Rob and Julie Moran are two of Hollywood’s best and we’re thrilled to have them join as the hosts of the Shorts Awards 2014,” said Carter Pilcher, Chief Executive, ShortsHDTM. “Our ShortsHD audience in America and our ShortsTV audience across Europe will thoroughly enjoy a night of their good- natured humor.”
The Shorts Awards 2014 will air on ShortsHD across America and on ShortsTV across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in April 2014.
