Wolfe Releasing, the world’s largest exclusive distributor of gay and lesbian films, has acquired the rights to two award-winning, coming-of-age films: Eric Schaeffer’s BOY MEETS GIRL and Wade Gasque’s TIGER ORANGE. Wolfe has the worldwide rights to BOY MEETS GIRL (with the exception of Germany) and the film will release across all VOD platforms beginning April 7 and on DVD April 28. Wolfe also has worldwide rights for TIGER ORANGE, which will debut later in 2015.

“We’re confident these will be two of the most popular LGBT films of 2015,” said Wolfe co-president Jim Stephens. “Both titles have terrific casts — Michelle Hendley, of BOY MEETS GIRL, is clearly an up-and-coming actress to watch, while Frankie Valenti (aka former adult film star Johnny Hazzard) completely re-invents himself and demonstrates his considerable talents as a dramatic actor in TIGER ORANGE.”

Director Eric Schaeffer’s (If Lucy Fell) BOY MEETS GIRL, starring Michael Welch (Twilight franchise) and newcomer Michelle Hendley, has won numerous awards on the film festival circuit, including the Best Feature Award at the prestigious Iris Prize Film Festival and FilmOut San Diego where it literally swept up every jury award for which it was eligible at the 2014 festival — nabbing statues for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor.

BOY MEETS GIRL SYNOPSIS: One of the most popular LGBT films of the year, BOY MEETS GIRL is a funny and heartwarming romantic-comedy starring the very talented actress Michelle Hendley as Ricky, a young transwoman trying to navigate life and looking for romance in her small Kentucky hometown. Will she find love with the beautiful rich girl Francesca (Alexandra Turshen, Red Oaks) or with her lifelong best pal Robby (Michael Welch, Twilight)? Wonderfully written and directed by well-known indie filmmaker Eric Schaeffer (If Lucy Fell, My Life’s In Turnaround), BOY MEETS GIRL simultaneously exemplifies and transcends the category of “LGBT film” (labels or not, this is simply a fabulous movie). Featuring a stellar cast and a break-out performance from newcomer Michelle Hendley in the leading role — Michelle is not only a terrific actress, she also happens to be a transwoman.

Wade Gasque makes his feature film directing debut with TIGER ORANGE, which had its world premiere at the 2014 Outfest in Los Angeles, where Mark Strano won the Grand Jury Award for Best Actor. The film has also earned Audience Awards at several other LGBT festivals and critical praise for lead actor Frank Valenti who transitions from his adult film career as Johnny Hazzard to make his legit acting debut in the film.

TIGER ORANGE SYNOPSIS: Chet (Mark Strano, Out To Kill) and Todd (Frankie Valenti aka former adult star Johnny Hazzard) are estranged gay brothers who grew up in a small town in Central California to a homophobic, working class single father. While bad boy Todd ran off to Los Angeles and is now out and proud, Chet stayed at home (and mostly closeted) to run the family hardware store and care for their ailing father until the father’s recent death. Broke and homeless, Todd returns to the brother he left behind. As long-simmering resentments boil to the surface and the pair confront their differences and similarities, Tiger Orange serves up a poignant depiction of family dynamics and small town life — and the journeys we each must take.
